公務人員3分鐘職場英語力競賽,Everyone is No.1!City Employees Show Talents in 3-minute Civil Service Talk Competition

人事處今年創新規劃「公務人員3分鐘職場英語力競賽活動」,藉由獎勵競賽方式激勵市府10%公務人員具備3分鐘英語公務介紹口語能力。本年度第一場競賽於本(106)年4月26日(星期三)下午舉行,由本府各局處、區公所隨機公開抽選1人,總計33人,分四組競賽,開場由副秘書長劉世忠以英文致詞,劉副秘表示提升公務人員英語口語能力是市府推動第二官方語言計畫的一環,期待更多同仁勇於開口說英語。很高興看到這麼多市府同仁用心準備,參與比賽,相信未來有越來越多同仁能夠自在的用英語介紹業務,讓更多人認識臺南!

    此次活動特別邀請四位英語母語人士分別擔任四組的評審,競賽活動在活潑熱烈中進行,參賽代表個個全力以赴,勇敢開口介紹公務,外籍評審對參賽者的用心留下深刻印象,讚賞有加的表示「Everyone is No.1!」,參賽者則表示:雖然有點刺激與緊張,但有了這次英文競賽初體驗,未來開口說英語將更有信心。來自安南區公所的參賽者不僅用心準備豐富的內容,透過對話將安南區的特色一一介紹,更搭配自己製作的道具讓對話更精彩!來自經濟發展局的參賽者同樣精心準備道具,並透過活潑生動的方式介紹自己的業務,讓外籍評審特別驚豔。市府第二官方語言專案辦公室表示「公務人員3分鐘職場英語力競賽活動」參與同仁人人有獎,希望透過獎勵方式讓同仁勇敢說英語,在這次的競賽中也發現市府同仁各個臥虎藏龍,在短短的三分鐘內,都展現了優秀的英語口語能力!

     人事處許瑛峰處長表示本活動將每季辦理,讓開口說英語的氛圍在市府持續擴散,也期待這項帶著走的能力,能為同仁在未來每個階段的職場加分。

The Department of Personnel held the 3-minute Civil Service Talk Competition in April, providing prizes to inspire at least 10% of city employees to equip themselves with 3-minute English speaking skill. 33 city employees from bureaus, departments, and district offices participated in the competition. All participants were divided into four groups and competed for the Top 3 in each group. In his opening speech, Deputy Secretary-general Liu Shih-chung said that enhancing city employees' English speaking is part of the English as the Second Official Langauge Program, adding that he hoped to see more and more city employees can be confident about speaking English. "I am glad to see many city employees work hard to prepare for this competition, and I hope in the future we can see more civil servants feel comfortable about describing their job and introducing Tainan in English," Liu said.

In the competition, four English native speakers were invited to be the judge for each group. Every participant did their best to talk about their work in English, leaving the judges such great impression that the judges praised "Everyone is No.1!" The participants said that though they felt quite nervous and tense, the experience will help them be more confident in speaking English. Participants from Annan District Office invested much time and effort in preparing for the talk and did an excellent job in introducing Annan District, while a participant from the Economic Development Bureau prepared props and talked about her own job with great passion. The Office of English as the Second Official Language (OESOL) said that this competition provided prizes for all participants in the hope of encouraging city employees to speak English bravely. In this competition, many participants showed incredible English speaking skill in only three minutes!

Director-general Hsu Ing-feng of the Department of Personnel said that this competition will be held in every season, so as to create the atmospheres of speaking English in the city government, and hoped that this skill will bring benefit to city employees in their career.
