Baseball is a sport that fills many people with passion, and it comes with its own special terminology. The “Let’s Play Baseball” series of activities organized by
CTBC Financial Management College in conjunction with the Tainan City Government kicked off today. Star players from the Chinatrust Brothers attended the launch ceremony to “hit the home runs” symbolizing education and public welfare, hoping to ignite a passion for baseball and learning English in Tainan’s children.
The World Baseball Softball Confederation U-12 Baseball World Cup will be played in Tainan in July. CTBC Financial Management College responded to the city government’s policies and contributed English education resources by providing the services of its ICRT professional teachers. It is hoped this activity will bring orthodox yet original “baseball English” to young students.
Tainan City Government Deputy Secretary-General and Office of English as the Second Official Language Director Liu Shih-chung said the city of Tainan is great for baseball, and the most important thing, whether it is watching baseball or learning English, is attitude. He thanked CTBC Financial Management College and the city government for jointly holding the “Public Welfare English Baseball Camp” and allowing children to learn English through games.
During today’s launch ceremony, foreign teachers and Tainan Municipal Sie-jin Elementary School students engaged in a fun baseball English conversation. Chinatrust Brothers stars Lin Wei-chu, Hsu Chi-hung, Lin En-yu, and Chan Tzu-hsien served as “English baseball ambassadors F4” to support grassroots baseball and English education. There was also a quiz with autographed baseballs as the prizes.
