The “2019 Tainan English Reading Festival” organized by the Tainan City Government won’t officially kick off until July 1 (Monday), but online registration for the very popular “Story Time” activity will begin today to conform to campus promotional schedules. The organizer, Tainan City Government’s Office of English as the Second Official Language (OEASOL), urges parents to waste no time in registering. There are opportunities to win wonderful prizes during all 120 sessions of the “Story Time” activity to leave children with unforgettable summer memories.
The OEASOL says this event has proven to be a huge hit with the public. Last year, eager parents snatched up all the spaces even before news of the event was officially made public, preventing many others from registering successfully. This year, Mayor Huang Wei-cher directed the OEASOL to increase the number of sessions to 120 and extend the coverage to 35 administrative districts. Festival spokesperson Clifford the Big Red Dog will attend several of the sessions to interact with attendees. In 30 of the sessions, foreigners will be telling stories to children. Everyone is invited to attend. You’ll want to register as soon as possible to avoid missing out!
To encourage people to attend the event, the OEASOL collected a number of products from companies to serve as prizes for the winners of on-site quizzes. Children will not only have the opportunity to hear stories in English, but also win great prizes! Caves Bookstore provided 500 English storybooks, while the FLOMO Education Foundation offered stationery sets; eco-friendly, non-toxic erasers; colored pencils; and eco-friendly wooden notebooks. Crowne Plaza Tainan contributed 1,090 restaurant vouchers. The OEASOL welcomes everyone to register for “Story Time” using the following link: https://reurl.cc/1A568.
