Simen Bilingual Education Performance and Evaluation Carnival Shows Excellent Bilingual Capability
Following the release of the book "CLIL Disciplinary Subject Learning" last month, the bilingual carnival was held today (17) to showcase the fruitful achievements of teachers and students in incorporating bilingual into school life.
The bilingual carnival was designed jointly by first to sixth grade local and foreign teachers and includes cross-curricular activities such as nature, math, life curriculum, art, English, and flexible learning curriculum. The activities also combined the issue of international education, marine education and environmental education.
Mayor Huang Wei-che said, “In line with globalization, we expect children can connect to the world through their bilingual abilities. From 2017, Simen Elementary School, as the leading school of Taiwan's first-ever Bilingual Advisory Committee, Tainan Bilingual and English Education Resource Center, has continuously committed itself to bilingual education and is achieving astonishing results."
The principal of Simen Elementary School, Lu Tsui-ling, said that bilingualism has already been a part of Simen’s daily life. In today's event, teachers may perform the teaching results and students can practice speaking English through the various evaluation activities.
Lu stated that Simen Elementary School keeps sharing its experience in promoting bilingual education, from improving teachers' ability, changing parents' attitude and innovating teaching materials and assessment models. Hoping to assist Tainan City achieve its goal of making every school in Tainan bilingual.
